Nutso & Dj Low Cut - In The Cut (2013) [Out Now]

After several collaborations on their respective projects (« NY Minute » and « France's Finest NY Minute Remix » Dj Low Cut and mixtape « Bangtime » of Nutso) both fellows decided to work on a common project: « In The Cut ».
Still inspired by mid-90s New York hip-hop, this Ep is produced entirely by Dj Low Cut. Nutso is not alone behind the microphone since you’ll found many guest appearances as Smiley The Ghetto Child, Rasheed Chappell, Dirt Platoon, Timeless Truth, Nems, FT, AG da Coroner and C-Rayz Walz.
Like the song « Shut'Em Down » (a tribute to Public Enemy) or « Grand Scheme », the 10 tracks of « In The Cut », definitely boom bap, will bring you in a world where underground hip-hop sharp lyrics, mingles with the melancholy samples soul 70's.

DJ Doom & Nutso - It's Just Begun feat. Large Pro, Tony Touch & El Da Sensei

It's been just over a year since the passing of legendary recording artist Jimmy Castor. To mark this occasion, Blunted Astronaut and DJ Doom are proud to present a very special tribute to one of the most important B-Boy anthems of all time - the 1970 funk masterpiece "It's Just Begun".

Hailing from Brooklyn, NYC, Doom has been immersed in Hip-Hop culture since the days of his youth in the early 1980's. Graff writer, B-Boy, DJ, producer - there's not a lot the man hasn't done! On this, his third BA release, he teams up with Nutso for a truly unique project, revisiting a timeless classic that carries forward the musical legacy of the late, great, Jimmy Castor for years to come.

His trusty SP1200 is once again put to work, and with guest appearances by Large Professor, Tony Touch and El Da Sensei (The Artifacts) this limited 7” is guaranteed to be another Blunted Astronaut sure shot.

It's also worth noting that the label artwork (by Mr. Krum) is inspired by the layout and typesetting of the U.S. 45 on Kinetic - the much treasured 'original' version.

B-boys of the world... unite!

Nutso (feat. Shabaam Sahdeeq & Royal Flush) - Blowing Up (ELPresBeats Remix)

Queens-bred spitter Nutso splits bars with Q-Boro mic vet Royal Flush and Brooknam’s Shabaam Sahdeeq (a/k/a S-Dub) on “Blowing Up,” off his EP, Behind These Bars. Remixed by ELPresBeats and featuring a well-timed scratch hook courtesy of Chinch 33, “Blowing Up (ELPresBeats Remix)” carries a rugged yet nostalgic soundscape over quotables from Biggie, Artifacts, Mobb Deep, Slum Village and more. Sit back and enjoy the ride as these three emcees stand and deliver.

ELPresBeats is a boombap sample based beatmaker from the Netherlands. In 2007 he made a trip to New York to make connections in the hiphopscene. In 2011 he released a 12" vinyl record titled EL Pres - Glenwood Hostel EP, a producer EP that focuses on beats, rhymes and turntablism. It features the raps of NY underground mc's Jak Danielz (Cold Heat), Nutso (Poor Pocket Muzik), Starvin B, former unsigned hype (the Source) Marvalous and Creature (Rebelmatic, Triflicts, Infesticons). The scratches are done by multiple Dutch DMC champ and runner up Battle for World Supremacy 2005 DJ Irie and fellow turntable virtuosi DJ Friss and DJ Milton.

Audio: Men At Work 2020

Kool G. Rap teams up with Marley Marl, Nutso, Rugged Intellect, F.T., Ras Kass, Action Bronson and Necro for an updated version to his 1989 classic track, “Men At Work.”

Here are Necro’s thoughts of being apart of this heavy collaboration:

I’m real excited about this track, MEN AT WORK 2020, for many reasons. let me give you the breakdown and history of it all from my perspective.

This is the first verse I dropped that Kool G Rap heard, right after we agreed to do The Godfathers album, so I was really excited, nervous, anxious, because this was my chance to shine with KGR, and I didnt wanna dissapoint. When G Rap heard my verse he texted me back, “You blasted a hole through the track homie!”. That felt good getting love from KGR on this song, especially because this is a legendary Kool G Rap song, and he destroys it on the original, as well as this remix.

I was also excited to do this because Domingo put a bunch of other nice mc’s on it, and it would give me a chance to show my skills next to some other dope rappers. I dont do alot of collabos so some of these rapper’s fanbases might not realize how the kid gets it in, even Marley Marl said to Domingo, “Who that???” haha referring to my verse when he heard it, so that was a good look too.

I was just real honored to get on this song when Domingo offered me the last verse spot on it, more than anything because I got major respect for Kool G Rap & Domingo, and what they both have accomplished in the “real hiphop” genre. I’m also very influenced by the production of Marley Marl, he is a groundbreaking legend and if not for him, Necro wouldnt be as dope a producer as I am today.

So on that note, enjoy this banger, and please my Necromaniacs and fellow industry journalist peeps, spread this track everywhere because it really is a unique song, and this is only the remix, Domingo has the original beat version still in the stash to be released soon.
